Emergency Service ~1 Hour Response

When You Can’t Wait for a Regular Appointment

Electrical emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time. A burning smell from your panel, an outlet that sparks, a tripped breaker that won’t reset, power out in part of your home — these are situations where waiting days for an appointment isn’t an option.

PowerPlus Electric provides emergency electrical service throughout Fairfield and New Haven County, 7AM–11PM, 7 days a week. We don’t charge an overtime premium for evening or weekend calls — the rate is the rate. When you call (203) 747-5335, you reach a licensed electrician, not an answering service. Response time is approximately one hour in most of our service area.

What Counts as an Electrical Emergency?

Some situations are obvious emergencies. Others are easy to dismiss as minor — until they aren’t. Call us immediately if you have any of the following:

  • Burning smell or smoke near your panel, outlets, or wiring — stop using the circuit and call
  • Sparking outlets or switches — a spark when plugging in is not normal
  • Breakers that trip repeatedly and won’t hold — indicates an overloaded or faulted circuit
  • Complete loss of power to part of your home that isn’t resolved by resetting breakers
  • Exposed or damaged wiring — especially in older homes where insulation has degraded
  • Flooding near electrical panels or outlets — water and electricity require immediate attention
  • Flickering lights throughout the home — not just one room — can indicate a failing service connection

When in doubt, call. We’d rather tell you it can wait than have you wait on something that shouldn’t.

No Overtime Markup — Ever

A lot of electrical contractors charge time-and-a-half or more for evening and weekend emergency calls. We don’t. We built our pricing without overtime tiers because we believe emergency service shouldn’t come with a financial penalty for needing help at 9 PM on a Sunday. You’ll know the cost before we start — no surprises.

Serving All of Fairfield and New Haven County

PowerPlus Electric responds to emergencies across our entire service territory — West Haven, New Haven, Milford, Hamden, Derby, Ansonia, Orange, Shelton, Guilford, Madison, Fairfield, Westport, and all surrounding towns. Response time varies slightly by location, but approximately one hour is our standard target.

Literally called for a quote, left him a message, while I was leaving the message he was calling me back. Arrived at my home same day to provide the quote. Told me exactly what to order (home EV vehicle charger). He was at my home installing the charger right after it was delivered. The charger was installed flawlessly. I highly recommend PowerPlus.

Scott was great! He was able to come out the same day, quickly diagnose & resolve the issue with a smart thermostat, all for a great price! I will not only recommend Scott, but I will also use him when needed in the future.
